The population figures can be based on data from the most recent census adjusted by the components of population change produced since the last census. Normally resident population means all persons having usual residence in a country at the reference time. Usual residence means the place where a person normally spends the daily period of rest, regardless of temporary absences for purposes of recreation, holidays, visits to friends and relatives, business, medical treatment or religious pilgrimage. The following persons alone are considered to be usual residents of the geographical area in question: a) those who have lived in their place of usual residence for a continuous period of at least 12 months before the reference time; or b) those who arrived in their place of usual residence during the 12 months before the reference time with the intention of staying there for at least one year. Maltese population is only available from 2011 on-wards. Maltese population is listed as M.POP with the year and either males (m), females (f) and total (t) in front of it. Total population is listed as T.POP with the other abbreviations as in the previous case.
